On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Kutaisi University, an international scientific-practical conference ‘’Covid-19 Problems and the Methods of their Solutions in Economics, Business and Medicine’’ was launched.
Due to the Covid regulations, the main part of the conference was held online in Georgian and English languages.
The conference, which is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kutaisi University, was organized by the university and was attended by professors from both Georgian and foreign universities.
The Rector of the University Dr. Gocha Tutberidze addressed the participants and guests of the conference with a welcoming speech. He talked about Kutaisi University, as the first private authorized higher education institution in the region, which has authorization at all three levels of higher education (bachelor, master, doctorate), and has an exemplary reputation in scientific circles.
As Dr. Gocha Tutberidze stated, this scientific-practical conference has important missions – to tackle the challenges of the Pandemic, and to discuss Georgia’s near future in the realm of scientific research.
“Georgia’s economic growth is 8.5% this year, and now we are following the dynamics of developing countries, which is quite promising, but the pandemic increased foreign debt and the current account deficit are significant challenges for the Georgian economy in the coming years. These issues will be the main topics of discussion at our conference, and our researchers will present their visions on Georgia’s economic development,’’- remarked the rector of Kutaisi University.
He thanked Georgian and foreign scholars, university students for their participation, and the co-organizers of the conference, European and Akaki Tsereteli State Universities.
After Professor Ioseb Archvadze’s report, “Accelerating Economic Growth as the Most Effective Way to Combat the Coronavirus Pandemic’’, the conference proceeded with working sessions.
Kutaisi University was founded in 1991 under the name of “Institute of Law and Economics”, which was the first private authorized higher education institution in the region. At the time of its establishment, the university had bachelor’s programs in Economics and Law, now the university has authorization at all three levels of higher education (bachelor, master, doctorate). Last year, the Faculty of Medicine was added to the program list of the University.
