Selection of participants for the project “The role of universities in regional development” starts

Kutaisi University together with 10 Georgian and 4 European universities participating in the project “RURD” – Role of Universities in Regional Development.

Within the framework of the project, several visits will be made to the relevant European and Georgian universities. The training topics will be: Management Structure of Universities, the Role of Regional Universities in Regional Development, Cooperation examples between Local Self-Government bodies and Regional Universities, Modification and clarification of University Mission, Strategy and SWOT Analysis.

After undergoing these trainings, researchers and administrative staff who will be involved in project should carry out a survey at the local level, which will modify the mission, vision and strategic development indicators of the participating universities.

In addition, within the project is planned establish a body – conference of rectors, which will be convened periodically. It is also planned to create an LLL course, the guideline of which will be available to all involved universities.

The demand for academic and administrative staff participation in the program are:

  • English language skills,
  • Research experience (topics – the region’s sustainable development and its strategic benchmarks, university activities, management, quality control, cooperation with local self-government, internationalization.)
  • Readiness, if necessary, to get involved in the project at any stage of the project which includes training, research, teaching and dissemination of the results of the periods.
