Kutaisi University has published a new book “The Concept of a Tax Collector in the Holy Scripture” by Prof. Nikoloz Chikhladze. The book reviews the main characteristics of a tax collector as described in the Bible. It also presents the views, comments and quotes from the works of holy fathers. The author does not claim to provide an exhaustive study of the issue. However, he covers the key passages from the Holy Bible (works of Mathew, tax collector Zacchaeus, the parable of Pharisee and the Publican) that present a tax collector as a fiscal officer, their aspirations and their readiness to repent.
