Kutaisi University keeps its traditions and on December 8 we all witnessed another celebration held at Lado Meskhishvili Drama Theatre - Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students who graduated in the academic year 2013-2014 received their degree certificates.
The academic staff of KU, our students and alumni filled the theatre hall. Representatives of the city self-government, the city council, Kutaisi public and private schools, medical institutions, banking and finance sectors were among the invited guests.
The founder of the University, Prof. Lela Kelbakiani welcomed the audience and awarded the students who graduated with honors. The Mayor of Kutaisi Shota Murghulia and the Chair of the City Council Davit Dvali also addressed the public and wished Kutaisi University further success.
Lela Khurtsilava, graduate of a Bachelor‘s degree program spoke on behalf of all the graduates and thanked the University. KU also received very warm, emotional video addresses from the students who are on exchange programs at various European universities at present.
In the second half of the evening we had a chance to enjoy wonderful music performed by Nato Gelashvili, a favorite singer of many in the audience. Young dancers from Kutaisi Folklore Centre with their fiery performance also contributed to making this evening special for students and graduates.
The climax of the event came with a song performed together by Nato Gelashvili and KU graduates. This was a beautiful and very emotional conclusion to a memorable evening.
