On October 20-21 Kutaisi University hosted the International Scientific Practical Conference “Issues in Sustainable Development of Economy: Reality and Perspectives”.
At the opening of the conference the participants were welcomed by Professor Lela Kelbakiani, the Rector of Kutaisi University. She introduced the guests to the past of the University and outlined its future prospects. Among the plenary speakers were Professor Klaus Rosenthal, Paderborn University (Germany), Professor Ludmila Kozak, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Law of Kiev National Transport University (Ukraine), Gocha Tutberidze, full professor of Kutaisi University, Professor Konstantine Khmaladze, Head of the Department for Regional Development of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Paata Koghuashvili, full professor of Georgian Technical University.
After plenary sessions conference participants continued to work in sections. Papers were presented by Ukrainian, German and Russian scientists alongside with their Georgian colleagues. Overall, 52 papers were presented at the conference. The conference proceedings were published and distributed to all the participants. The publication includes full English translation of all the papers which serves to promote internationalization of research.
A number of Georgian higher educational institutions took part in the conference. Of particular importance was participation of expert practitioners and their view of the main issues in the context of sustainable development.
