On November 8 Kutaisi University hosted Lahsa Shavdatuashvili, the youngest Georgian Olympic Champion, a gold medalist of 2012 London Olympics. The meeting was organized on the initiative and with the support of the Chairman of Imereti regional organization of Georgian National Olympic Committee Revaz Robakidze.
The hall was crowded with students and academic staff. Warm words of congratulations and good wishes came from the audience. The dialogue was open and sincere. All the questions received exhaustive and very interesting answers from the Olympic medalist and his coach whose contribution to Lasha’s impressive victory was immeasurable.
Exchange of opinions and life experiences with such an outstanding young man will certainly be stimulating for the students especially as Lasha spoke very emphatically about the importance of hard work and tireless efforts in achieving one’s goals. He stressed that such determination cannot fail to produce results sooner and later.
At the end of this memorable meeting Faculty Dean Kakhaber Gabelashvili presented the guest with some souvenirs. Mr. Rezo Robakidze, the Chairman of Imereti regional organization of Georgian National Olympic Committee, gave his book “Olympic Games and the Chronicles of Georgian Competitions” to the university library.
